Owing to its geographical location, sea links to Russia are not very strong. Even so, there are ports in St. Petersburg, on the Pacific, Baltic and Black Sea shores. There are also a few links to the Atlantic thorough the port of Murmansk on the Kola peninsula. The largest and most important Eastern ports are Vladivostok, Magadan, Nakhodka and Petropavlovsk, with the largest Western ports being St Petersburg and Kaliningrad. Numerous extensions to ports are planned, and cruises are popular on the Black Sea and the Baltic.
